Insomnia and CBD

Insomnia is difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, even when a person has the chance to do so. People with insomnia can feel dissatisfied with their sleep and usually experience one or more of the following symptoms: fatigue, low energy, difficulty concentrating, mood disturbances, and decreased performance in work or at school. People with insomnia tend to have difficulty falling asleep (onset), staying asleep (maintenance), and/or they wake up too early in the morning.

CBD and CBN can be great treatments for insomnia and sleep disorders. While it doesn’t necessarily make you feel sleepy, CBD helps promote relaxation and quiet racing thoughts for a great night’s sleep. CBN products are made specifically for sleep.

A 2019 study in Permanente Journal studied the effects of CBD primarily on sleep and anxiety. Dosages were adjusted in a range of 25 mg per day to (in one case) 175 mg per day in order to meet participant needs for relief. At the end of the trial, 66.7% of insomnia patients felt significant relief, and 59% chose to stay on CBD as their form of treatment.

Always check with your medical professional before discontinuing any medications.
