Pets

CBD may help any animal with an endocannabinoid system (ECS), including dogs, cats, horses, and smaller pets like rabbits. An ECS is naturally present in most animals and is responsible for regulating various bodily functions, making CBD potentially beneficial for managing pain, anxiety, inflammation, and other health concerns.

CBD (Cannabidiol)

CBD is a non-psychoactive compound found in cannabis and contains 0.3% or less THC, making it safe for your pets. The potential benefits of CBD for pets are:

·         Anxiety and Stress Reduction: Pets with separation anxiety, noise phobias (such as fireworks and thunderstorms), or travel stress may be calmed with CBD.

·         Appetite Stimulation: CBD may encourage eating in pets with poor appetite due to illness or medications.

·         General Wellness: Some use CBD as a daily supplement for overall well-being and aging support.

·         Nausea Relief: CBD may help pets with digestive issues or chemotherapy-related nausea.

·         Pain Relief: Chronic pain, arthritis, and inflammation may be managed with CBD.

·         Seizure Management: CBD may reduce seizure frequency in pets with epilepsy.

·         Skin and Allergy Support: May reduce itching, redness, and irritation from allergies or skin conditions.

Pets should never be given THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the psychoactive compound in cannabis. While humans may tolerate THC, many animals - especially dogs and cats - are much more sensitive to it. THC toxicity in pets can cause lethargy or agitation, vomiting, loss of coordination, tremors or seizures, low blood pressure, excessive drooling, and in severe cases, coma or death. If your pet accidentally ingests THC, contact a vet immediately.

How Can I Give My Pet CBD?

Hemp House carries a variety of pet products, including oil/tinctures, treats, and peanut butter. Oil can be added to food or put directly into your pet’s mouth. Our house-made Charlie’s Chews CBD treats also contain glucosamine, which may help older pets experiencing joint pain and mobility issues.

* Important Considerations *

Start with a low dose and adjust based on pet’s response. Always check with your veterinarian before discontinuing any medications your pet may be taking.
