CBD in the Workplace
A lot of misinformation surrounds CBD products in the workplace. CBD can be completely safe for workers without causing a positive drug test, and in many cases may increase employee productivity.
In Tennessee, Georgia, and surrounding states, the controlled substance in cannabis medicine is called Delta-9-THC. This is the psychoactive component which causes a positive drug test result and can lead to slowed reaction times and a “high” or “stoned” feeling in users that employers would like to avoid. Conversely, CBD is another cannabinoid in the cannabis plant. It does not cause a “high” reaction at all, and yet still carries many medical benefits to its consumers including pain relief, immune boost, a clear, focused mind, anxiety and depression relief, and more.
We carry a wide variety of products which are completely THC free and safe for employees in a drug-free work zone. The biggest concern for CBD products is making sure they come from a trusted and tested source.
As an employer, you should encourage CBD users in your workplace to use the following checklist:
- Is your CBD locally grown/sourced?
- Is the product THC free?
- What dosage is the product?
- Has the product been third party lab tested for contaminants and THC content and can you see the report?
- Is the seller knowledgeable?
Always check with your medical provider before discontinuing any medications.
